Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates jumps ahead in Durrrr Challenge

Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates jumps ahead in Durrrr Challenge
Saturday, 28 August 2010

Yesterday we brought you details of the opening skirmishes in the latest Durrrr Challenge between Tom Dwan and Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates. The opening session saw Durrrr jump into an early $127k lead but when play resumed later in the day it was the challenger who was dominating.

After 5,682 hands at the $200/$400 tables Jungleman12 finished the day up by $518,190, a fantastic comeback after the opening session.

The biggest pot of the day was a $193k monster. Jungleman12 raised to $800 from the button, Durrrr re-raised to $2,600, Jungleman four-bet to $6,400 and Dwan made the call. Durrrr checked the 8sJh6h flop, Jungleman bet out $7,600 and Durrrr made the call. Dwan checked again once the 9c appeared on the turn only to see Jungleman bet $21,400. Durrrr again flat called. After The 4s completed the board Dwan checked again, Jungleman shoved and Dwan pushed his final $61,092 chips into the middle. Jungleman scooped the pot revealing pocket aces.

With 1/10th of the scheduled hands of the challenge being run on the opening day it looks like this contest will be a lot more exciting than Durrrr's bout with Patrik Antonius. We certainly hope so.
