Daniel Cates' Canadian move runs into trouble

Thursday, 28 July 2011

Railbirds were hopeful that Daniel Cates would be back at the high stakes online games in the very near future after 'Jungleman12' tweeted "leaving for Vancouver tomorrow, time to crush online again :)".

Unfortunately, Cates' plans to head north to resume his poker career have hit the buffers thanks to the Canadian immigration authorities. The Durrrr Challenger tweeted, "In a ridiculous twist, I have been deported from Canada for being an illegal immigrant... Going to Seattle tomorrow to try to get temp visa".

He followed it up shortly after with, "Apparently I need a visa to play poker for a living in Canada? Wtf? Anyone know about the immigration laws here?"

One person who can probably help is part time MMA fighter and full time poker pro Terrence Chan. The some time Two Plus Two Pokercast host (get well Adam by the way) ran into trouble travelling in the opposite direction. The Canadian threatened to give up playing in the US but thankfully managed to resolve his differences with US authorities. Perhaps he can recommend Jungleman a lawyer.
