Corion Conquers Genting Link

Tuesday, 6 January 2015

The first big tournament score of 2015 was awarded over the weekend after Phillip Corion took down the Genting Poker Link South.

Luton has proved a happy hunting ground for Corion who finished runner-up in the GUKPT Luton Main Event in October. He added another £11,100 to his bankroll after topping a 312-runner field on Sunday.

Carion stood at the head of the field after the four opening flights and was largely troubled throughout Sunday's finale.

After working his way through a final table that included Stacey Savage, Steve Spring and David Anderson, Corion saw off the challenge of Steve Montague to claim his second five-figure score in the space of three months.

The final table payouts were as follows:

1.  £11,100.00* - Phillip Corion
2.  £7,420.00* - Steve Montague
3.  £4,750.00* - David Anderson
4.  £2,970.00* - Brett Schuman
5.  £2,330.00* - Steve Spring
6.  £1,820.00* - David Bright
7.  £1,360.00* - Stacey Savage
8.  £1,100.00* - Michael “Teddy” Burnett
9.  £890.00* - Mohamed Abdel-kader
10. £680.00* - Martin Gower

The Genting Poker Series returns next month with Star City in Birmingham hosting the 2015 opener from 2 February.
