888poker's Live Local Series Main Event in Dublin came to a conclusion over the weekend and when the betting was over it was Colm Hanlon standing atop of the winner's rostrum.
The young player is a regular player in many of Dublin's live games and sat down alongside 170 other entrants late last week for a shot at 888poker's second Local Live title. The tour, which started out life earlier this year in London, is beginning to look as though it will be a hit with low stakes players thanks to its €220 price tag and €30,000 guarantee. In fact, when the entrance fees had been collected inside Dublin's ClubPoker Rathmines, the money on offer had soared to €34,000 which meant Holm was able to take home €7,200 when all was said and done.Although the majority of players in the event were small time grinders, the tournament did attract some of Irish poker's biggest names, including Donnacha O'Dea, Fintan Gavin and WSOP finalist, Andy Black. Of the top class players in action it was Black who made it the deepest, finding his way to the final table and a sixth place finish. However, among the sea of pros it was the young Holm who eventually triumphed. After carrying the chip lead into the finale, Holm was able to sit back and watch the drama unfold before making his move. A few well-timed bets help him contribute to the demise of Bryan Nicholson in third place before Justin Boyle received the same treatment. A brief exchange between Holm and Boyle resulted in the former moving all-in with pocket threes and the latter calling with pocket tens. With the poker gods unwilling to save Boyle, the winner's trophy and 7,200 was eventually push towards Holm after the board ran out Ac 4d 9h 4s 4c.888poker Live Local Series Dublin Result1.
