Cody Parts with PKR

Cody Parts with PKR

Thursday, 15 November 2012

PKR’s association with UK tournament star Jake Cody has come to an end after just 12 months. The parting of ways wasn’t publically announced until PokerNews contacted PKR’s Media Manager, Dan Grant, to confirm or deny a recent rumour that had surfaced.

Grant confirmed that Jake was now no longer a PKR pro, stating: “PKR’s one year association with Jake Cody has now come to its conclusion, we are proud to have worked with Jake over the last year and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Initially it seems that there was little indication that Jake’s sponsorship would only last for one year. Indeed, it seems strange that a player of calibre would only be required for such a short amount of time.

Moreover, Jake is the second player to leave PKR’s pro ranks this year after James “James666” Sudworth decided to put his career on hold and travel around the world.

Whether or not there was an alter motive behind the split is unknown, but for now Jake is a free agent. However, with over $3 million in live winnings, plus poker’s Triple Crown, behind him it’s unlikely he’ll stay free for long.
