The Foxwoods Casino Resort in Connecticut saw a unique poker tournament take place on November 15 in which the game’s most prominent personalities and players competed for family pride and a $25,000 seat in the WPT World Championship.
“The structure is both interesting and fun,” said poker pro Barry Shulman – who played with son Jeff – of the 'tag-team' father-son game.
“Each team decides which player starts and there is a mandatory switch at every level and every time a team busts out,” said Shulman. Additionally, one time during the tournament a team can change players.”
In a personal blog, Shulman said he and his son finished third, losing to the Greensteins and Brunsons. “Any team could have come in first through sixth, though, because it was a very fast structure and didn't take much time at all for ‘fold’ or ‘all in’ to become the only two options,” he said. “I'm not complaining, but we held no cards and got no breaks.”
