He has a reputation for playing fast, but soon we’ll find out if he serves fast food quickly as well. In a month that has already seen Jay Kwik agree to live in a bathroom for 30 days, Townsend will now be serving burgers in McDonalds after a prop bet went horribly wrong.
The bet was brokered between Townsend and fellow Cardrunners.com instructor Brian Hastings, and seem to have revolved around the stakes Hastings would play at for the remainder of 2007. With the details of the bet a little hazy, it appears that Townsend reckoned Hastings wouldn’t play 200/400 for the rest of the year, which was the case when Hastings actually moved up to 300/600. Townsend cried foul, and the ambiguity led to a poll on the Cardrunners forum. Townsend lost that particular coin flip by 46% to 54%, and soon the only thing he’ll be flipping will be burgers.
It is unknown if McDonalds have even agreed to harbour the high-stakes poker player yet, so there’s the prospect of Townsend having to go through some interviews as well. Sales would surely go up for the lucky branch, and the possibility of seeing a high-stakes poker player super-sizing the locals might be too much for McDonalds to resist.
