Chidwick Among WPT Prague Leaders

Chidwick Among WPT Prague Leaders

Friday, 5 December 2014

Day 1A of this year's WPT Prague event came to a conclusion last night and when the dust has settled it was Alexander Lahkov that emerged as the chip leader.

Despite the opening session only attracting 47 entrants, including Shannon Shorr who entered more than once, the level of competition in the 2,000 Main Event was still high.

In fact, at the close of play just 24 players remained and among the top ten was a string of familiar faces, including: Marvin Rettenmaier, Chris Hunichen, Britain's Stephen Chidwick and Anton Wigg.

What's more, Day 1b is also open to all those that competed on the first day, so the organisers are expecting today's session to be a much livelier affair than Thursday.

However, the tournament's logistics aside, it was an impressive day for Lahkov who managed to scoop 182,900 before the clock was paused.

A large portion of Lahkov's chips came courtesy of Georges Khoury. After turning a set of kings, Lahkov was able to river a big enough flush to collect a huge pile of chips and oust Khoury who tabled a set of sixes.

Day 1b will get underway today and many more stars, including this year's WSOP Main Event runner-up Felix Stephensen, will be in action in the WPT Prague Main Event.
