Chicago WSOP Circuit Event sees record field

Chicago WSOP Circuit Event sees record field

Monday, 26 October 2009

Last week the World Series of Poker Circuit hit Chicago, with a record number of entrants participating in the $345 NLHE event as 1,412 glory-hunters hit the felt at the Horseshoe Casino.

Last year, the attendance could barely top 1,100 and the previous circuit event record was for a 2006 event in Tunica, Mississippi, with 1,345 players partaking. The Chicago leg of the WSOP Circuit this year will see 13 poker events play out across the week.

The recently-renovated Horseshoe Casino (renovated to the tune of $500,000) by Lake Michigan, is actually a few miles from downtown Chicago. That didn't stop almost 1,500 players partaking in the record event however, playing across the 34 tables hosted in the Midwest US's largest poker room.
