Cecilia Pescaglini leads final 30 players at WPT Malta

Friday, 23 September 2011

Day 2 of the World Poker Tour event in Malta saw the remaining field of 154 players whittle themselves down to 30, with just three spots left until the money meaning that only ninety per cent of the field will leave the room happy today. Leading the field into Day 3 is Cecilia Pescaglini, who held the chip lead nearly all day.

Pescaglini eliminated several players on her way to finishing Day 2 with almost a million chips, over double that of second place Marvin Rettenmaier. Other big stacks include November Niner Matt Giannetti (370k) and Dusk Til Dawn head honcho Simon Trumper (368k); those returning on the shorter side of the chip count are no less formidable, such as Tony G (183k), Justin Bonomo (157k) and Isaac Haxton (222k).

Blinds will be at 1,500/3,000 with an ante of 500 when play resumes this afternoon.
