Canadian turns $4 tournament into $605,000

Jay Martens, an online ParadisePoker.com player who lives in Prince George, British Columbia placed second at the final table of the WPT Shooting Stars Tournament in San Francisco this weekend.

Martens entered the tournament by participating in a ParadisePoker.com $4 online qualifying tournament. He was up against Gus Hansen, the top WPT player of all time for the $1 million first prize. ParadisePoker.com sent 100 of its online players to the WPT tournament. These players ended up winning $1.1 million of the $4 million prize pool.

Another online qualifier from ParadisePoker.com, Corey Cheresnick from Florida, made the final table and placed sixth, winning $240,000.
