Online poker and betting operator bet365 is celebrating after reporting bumper annual financial results that has seen it grow by 26.5 percent year-on-year.

The British online bookmaking, casino and poker provider recently released a rundown of its annual financial results since March of 2014 showing that its profits before exceptional items had hit £409.3 million ($619.5 million) while year-on-year revenues peaked at just under £1.5 billion ($2.2 billion).

The bulk of this growth came courtesy of a boom in sportsbetting customers with figures growing by 43 percent year-on-year to 4.1 million punters with many of these activated during last summer's 2014 FIFA World Cup.

"The four weeks of the FIFA World Cup generated a significant number of new customers, increased amounts wagered and strong revenue performance during the traditionally slower betting period of June and July," said Denise Coates, Chief Executive Officer for bet365.

In addition to paying out an annual dividend to its owners worth £75 million ($113.5 million), bet365 also stated that it gave away £10 million ($15.1 million) to its charitable offshoot, the bet365 Foundation.

Beyond this, bet365 is planning a move into a new UK headquarters that will give it the ability to increase staffing levels to more than 3,000. Moreover, the gambling operator also plans to invest in new technology and improved services heading into 2016.
