Bubble Bursts at WPT Legends Tournament

Bubble Bursts at WPT Legends Tournament

Tuesday, 25 August 2009

The sale of the World Poker Tour to PartyGaming didn’t affect the remaining 73 players who returned for Day 3 of the WPT Legends of Poker tournament. Steven Begleiter, third place at the WSOP Main Event final table, held the chip lead going into the day’s play.

The story of yesterday was Bryan Devonshire – he busted Daniel Negreanu just before the bubble to hold a monster chip lead as Men “The Master” Nguyen busted in 28th place, typically taking his anger out on the poor dealer who, as far as we’re aware, has no control over the cards nor Men’s decisions.

Having burst the bubble, everyone was shocked to see Devonshire finish in 26th place –a series of small pots cut his stack down enough to be eliminated by Todd Terry in a flush over flush pot. Terry now leads November Niners Kevin Schaffel and Steven Begleiter in the top three chip spots.

With an average chip count of 340,000; Terry, Schaffel and Begleiter are sitting pretty with 850k, 728k and 617k respectively. Also still in the hunt is Prahlad Friedman in 9th place with 451,000.
