Brunson disses Hellmuth, Isildur1? bluffs at WSOPE

The first of the ESPN broadcasts of the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe did not disappoint fans. The online junkies had their Isildur1 fix – assuming it is Viktor Blom – and the TV poker fans saw Hellmuth and Brunson at a featured table. Funnily enough, the latter scenario saw a bigger blowup.

When Hellmuth entered Leicester Square’s Empire casino dressed as Julius Caesar, Doyle claimed to be “embarrassed for you” and accused Hellmuth of “making a circus out of a poker game.”

Hellmuth: I'll ask you one quick question. Do you think it's bad for poker when I show up like that?
Brunson: Yes.
Hellmuth: Really?
Brunson: Yes.

At other tables, Viktor Blom – the man hotly picked to be the mysterious Isildur1 – then aged 18, was shown raising from late position with Kd-2d. Yup, that sounds like Isildur1 alright. He was 3-bet by English amateur Ian Munn on the button, holding A7o. Blom called and refused to back down on a AA3 flop, check-raising Munn’s 9,000 bet to 58,000. He was 3-bet to 116,000 and then 4-bet bluffed for about a quarter of a million in chips.

Munn, to his credit, considered the fold but the odds and the fact he held trip aces were massive arguments for a call. He called. Blom turned over his hand and was out of his seat before the turn was dealt. Assuming he is Isildur1, he then proceeded to win and lose $6,000,000 online a month after. Sick life.
