Brown Given an Honorary WSOP Bracelet

Monday, 30 June 2014

Chad Brown may have had to cut his 2014 WSOP aspirations short this year, but in an effort to honour the veteran pro a special bracelet ceremony was held inside the Rio on Saturday.

According to reports Chad's cancer has now forced him into hospital care in New York and while he may not find a way out he can now call himself a WSOP bracelet holder.

During an emotional speech the WSOP's Jack Effel recounted some of Chad's poker highlights before announcing that he will no longer be playing at the WSOP or any live poker tournaments.

So, as a mark of respect, Jack awarded Chad an honorary bracelet, announcing that with "a third and two second place finishes on the resume, it was only going to be a matter of time" before Chad won a WSOP title.

After wishing Chad good luck in his fight, the Rio erupted into a round of applause for arguably the most emotional bracelet ceremony of 2014.
