Brits Dominate Sunday Storm

Monday, 14 April 2014

The Sunday Storm competition from PokerStars celebrated its third birthday over the weekend and marked this momentous milestone by pushing the total prize pool for the $11 buy-in tournament up to $1 million.

Taking the event to levels previously unseen, the anniversary multi-table tournament eventually welcomed 118,716 players to the felt including a host of PokerStars pros such Isaac Haxton and Joe Cada.

By the time the registration desk had closed, the prize pool had jumped to $1,187,160 meaning that the top prize for anyone able to wade through the masses was an impressive $115,823.

Despite the presence of some of the game's top players, the event's finale saw some less familiar screen names fight for the title with Brits dominating play when it came to crunch time.

Having seen off two Russians in fourth and third, the UK's 'rosscleverly' and 'XMERCILESS' decided to forgo the formalities of a deal and play for all the money. After a brief exchange 'rosscleverly' managed to overcome his compatriot to scoop the $115,823 top prize and the Sunday Storm third anniversary title.
