British Poker Awards set for September

Saturday, 17 July 2010

TV stars have the Baftas, pop singers The Brits and theatre actors the Oliviers. Now poker will be honouring the best and the brightest in the game at The British Poker Awards.

Poker's equivalent of the Oscars will take place at the Fox Poker Club in Shaftesbury Avenue, London on 13th September, just before the start of the WSOPE. Gongs up for grabs include Best Overall Poker Player, Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player, Best Online Player and Best UK Card Room.

Most of the awards will be decided by a public vote with a vote amongst players used to decide some categories. The prestigious Best Overall Player will be judged by an esteemed panel comprising the editors of Bluff Europe, Poker Europa and Poker News. Voting in the public categories will open on 1st August at TheBritishPokerAwards.com.

Organisers said, “We think the idea of a British Poker Awards – poker's very own Oscars – is long overdue. This will be a prestigious annual event and gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to the outstanding achievers in our game.”

This glamorous event will be open to the public with tickets set to go on sale in the very near future.
