Brammer and Adeniya amongst EPT Deauville leaders

Saturday, 4 February 2012

Just 54 players are still chasing the €875,000 first prize at PokerStars EPT Deauville after a rapid fire day at the French resort. Samphane Phomveha is the man leading the way after winning a huge pot just before the close.

The Frenchman took a huge chunk out of long time chip leader Ondrej Vinklarek's stack on the final hand of the day when the man who goes by the unlikely moniker of “The Czech Chris Moorman” five-bet shoved with K5 and was looked up by Phomveha who was holding kings. The cowboys held up to put the home player at the top of the leader board.

Joining him there are a couple of names very familiar to British readers. Chris Brammer closed the day third in the chip counts with Londoner Martins Adeniya close behind in fifth. Other notables still in the hunt include Kevin Vandermissen and EPT cashing machine Luca Pagano.

The remaining players are all guaranteed a pay day of at least €15,000. Play resumes at noon local time when the field will be whittled down to 24.

The chip leaders are as follows:

Samphane Phomveha 1,471,000
Olivier Rogez 1,098,500
Christopher Brammer 1,090,000
Yorane Kerignard 979,000
Martins Adeniya 893,000
Koen De Visscher 880,000
Gereon Sowa 787,000
Kevin Vandersmissen 759,000
