Boylepoker.com pro Peter Murphy completes Multiplier Challenge

Tuesday, 7 April 2009

Boylepoker’s Multiplier Challenge saw pro Peter Murphy attempt to turn a starting bankroll of $100 into $10,000. Difficult enough at the best of times but to do it in just 11 weeks seemed all the more ambitious.

As it turned out Murphy required only nine weeks to reach the $10,000 target. Not content with finishing the challenge early, Murphy also won $2,000 in the $250,000 guaranteed event on Boylepoker over the weekend, which brought his grand total up to $12,172.21.

Murphy finally crossed the finish line gaining the $30 he needed “I raised Js9s and got called by the big blind. The flop came A-J rag with two spades and he check-raised me so I decided to gamble with my pair and flush draw and got it in against his A-J — not what I wanted to see but I binged the spade on the river and that was that”.

There must be something in the water at Boylepoker.com as fellow player Adrian McCarthy managed to spin $100 into $135,000 in just 10 days, taking down the $20 Sit n Go Jackpot for $35,000 followed by $100,000 in the $2.5m guaranteed tournament.

Paul Spillane, head of poker at Boyle Sports, said, “What a fantastic achievement, not just for Peter but Adrian too. It was a real rollercoaster ride but we were always confident he had the skill and discipline to complete the challenge and are thrilled that he did. Congratulations to both of them.”
