Bonomo heads EPT Super High Roller

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

Amid all the rumours swirling around the poker world regarding Full Tilt it was pretty easy to overlook that there was a huge tournament taking place in Monte Carlo where the EPT €100k buy-in Super High Roller field has been whittled down to a final table of eight.

Leading the charge for the €1,640,000 first prize is Justin Bonomo who returns today with huge chip lead over Tobias Reinkemeier. Daniel Negreanu started the penultimate day as one of the short stacks but went on a huge heater to close the day in third. ElkY in fourth will be hoping to make it back to back high roller triumphs after winning in Berlin last week. Japanese high roller Masa Kagawa, WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel, Patrik Antonius and Eugene Katchalov round out a stacked final table.

Two of the final table will go home extremely disappointed with only the top six making the money, taking home at least €310,000.

The chip counts are as follows:

Justin Bonomo 4,393,000
Tobias Reinkemeier 1,682,000
Daniel Negreanu 1,581,000
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier 1,265,000
Masa Kagawa 1,076,000
Jonathan Duhamel 654,000
Patrik Antonius 338,000
Eugene Katchalov 262,000

This is what they're playing for:

1 €1,640,000
2 €1,064,000
3 €621,000
4 €443,000
5 €354,500
6 €310,000
