Online poker room Bodog Poker have added a new weekly tournament to their schedule. The $50,000 guaranteed game with kick off at 8.30pm EST every Wednesday. The $200 + $15 game is a “double stack” event, giving each player 3,000 in chips.
Don’t be put off by the buy-in: five “Last Chance” satellites will also run on Wednesdays, with buy-ins from $5 + $.50 to $20 =$2. The guaranteed prize means that even if fewer than 250 entrants join the tournament, the payout will still be $50,000. So, Shhhh, don’t tell anyone.
It’s no secret that Bodog Poker are planning a major push into Europe for the beginning of 2008, and the online poker site has been working hard to comply with UK regulations.
'The new regulations have been in the public domain in some shape of form for at least a year so we pretty much knew this was coming,' said Matt Jelicoe, Bodog's European Managing Director.
Its Costa Rican base may pose some problems, as the regulations which come into place on September 1st, only recognise the EU locations of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man and Alderney.
However, efforts are being made to prove worthiness and Bodog Poker, which has applied for an Operating License has been certified as random by eCOGRA compliant methodology via the UK Gaming Associates.
Also kicking off this Wednesday are paddypowerpoker.com’s online qualifiers for the Irish Open, which feed into the €3m tournament.
