Reality TV by-the-numbers has become all the more boring. The same formula of putting useless unknowns together to spend days on end bickering at each other about food, sex and dirty laundry no longer makes for good TV.

Reality TV by-the-numbers has become all the more boring. The same formula of putting useless unknowns together to spend days on end bickering at each other about food, sex and dirty laundry no longer makes for good TV. Thank God then for Calvin Avre of bodog.com, who is fronting the Wild Card Poker series, which started filming today and is due to air on Fox Sports from the middle of April.
Essentially, the show strips away all the dull parts of reality TV (people sleeping, washing up) and replaces them with a poker tournament worth $750,000. Also incorporated in the six-episode series are a number of parties at the Bodog Compund in San Jose, Costa Rica, which will undoubtedly keep the male audiences happy.
Contestants include internet qualifiers as well as celebrities and poker pros, so the mix of personalities is sure to create interesting TV. ‘Calvin Avre Wild Card Poker’ starts on April 15 at 11 pm.
