Bluff Magazine has anointed Phil Ivey as their Poker Player of the Year for 2005. Ivey, 27, has exploded onto the world poker scene in the last two years and is considered by professionals and amateurs alike as one of the most exciting talents in the game today.
Despite over $3.4m in tournament earnings, a World Series of Poker bracelet and 7 final tables to his name, Ivey still considers himself a regular guy.
“I’m honoured to win the Bluff Magazine Player of the Year award and to be recognised by such a great media outlet as Bluff Magazine,” he said.
Ivey has been playing poker since he was 8 years old and was taught by his grandfather.
“Phil Ivey has emerged as one of the best players of his generation. His focussed play and success at the table have earned him Bluff’s Player of the Year” said Eddy Klein, Co-President of Bluff Magazine.
