Binion’s Gambling Hall, the long time home to the World Series, is set to make its tournament comeback at the beginning of May. The classic venue is set to host the American Poker Player Championship’s first major event from May 10 with 29 different tournaments due to take place, ranging from $500 to $3,000 buy-ins. The aim is to put Binion’s firmly back on the map after a few years in the doldrums, as well as create some buzz around this new event.
This will surely be helped by the Gamblers’ Golf Tournament which is due to take place on May 21, right in the middle of the event’s schedule. Players will get the chance to leave the baize behind for a day and head to the Las Vegas National Golf Club for a fee of $300. After playing around the 18-hole course, there will be lunch and the chance to pick up $25,000 in prizes before returning to the tables to finish off the serious business of poker. It seems these guys are really going all out to provide a worthy alternative to the WPT and WSOP calendar.
