Bigger and better – 2010 WSOP final table has more fan seats.

Saturday, 30 October 2010

As the November Nine concept has only been in place since Peter Eastgate won the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event there are still some wrinkles to iron out. As Ty Stewart, WSOP Vice-President, put it: “in 2008 we wondered if anyone would show up and in 2009 we wondered if anyone would leave!”

For 2009, Phil Ivey was present at the final table of the Main Event and the line of fans stretched for hundreds of metres which meant that many fans and the general public were left out – at least until some players were eliminated and their entourages left as well.

“More seats will be available to the general public,” Stewart confirmed. “We want to service the friends and family of these poker players, but last year it got out of control. At the end of the day, the first year we wondered if anyone would show up and last year we wondered if anyone would leave.”

Each of the nine players will enter the Penn and Teller theatre with their own theme tune and a choreographed opening ceremony will... well, open proceedings. The bracelet will be awarded in the early hours of Tuesday, November 9.
