Big names dominate in €25,000 EPT High Roller

Monday, 30 April 2012

With the Super High Roller done and dusted in Monte Carlo the PokerStars EPT is now playing host to the much more affordable €25,000 High Roller. A total of 117 players entered the event, with 16 re-entries, and less than 50 now remain.

The man to beat heading into day two is US pro Andrew Badecker, who had turned his starting stack of 50,000 into 350,000 by the close of play. There are plenty of notable names amongst the 45 surviving players, with a trio of online superstars ending the day in the top ten. Patrik Antonius returns today with 307,500 followed by Phil Ivey on 271,000 and Chris Moorman on 261,700.

€100k Super High Roller winner Justin Bonomo is well placed on 200,000 as are Mike 'Timex' McDonald 170,000, Sorel Mizzi 165,000 and Doc Sands and Liv Boeree who both finished with 130,000. Further back are the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Daniel Cates and Viktor Isildur1.

133 runners at €25k a pop means a total prize pool of €3,325,000. 14 players will make the money with the winner walking away with a cool €1,080,000.
