Big changes for UK online gaming regulation?

The UK online gaming sector could be in line for major regulatory changes if a report from yesterday's Observer is to be believed.

According to the article, Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt is planning a major overhaul of licensing rules in light of the difficulties faced by players in the aftermath of Full Tilt's suspension. The paper quoted an unnamed source at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport who said, “This highlights why the government is looking at reforming how overseas-based operators are regulated and we hope to make an announcement in the next few weeks.”
