Big changes afoot on European Poker Tour

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

As the EPT Grand Final gets under way in Monte Carlo, PokerStars has announced details of next season's European Poker Tour and there are some big changes afoot.

The number of events scheduled has been reduced from 13 to seven (plus the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure) with each one offering a almost a fortnight of tournament action.

"We looked at every EPT season up until now and asked ourselves how we could make the tour even better for the players," said EPT President Edgar Stuchly. "In the end, every change comes down to making this a better tour for the people who make this tour what it is: our players."

The EPT will be partnering with national tours like the UKIPT to give smaller stakes players the opportunity to get in on the European Tour action. High rollers will be well catered for too with a new €10,000 buy-in series and a €50,000 televised tournament at the season opener in Barcelona.

The full schedule is as follows:

EPT Barcelona: Aug 15-25 (Main event Aug 19-25) €5,000 + 300
