Betfair are certainly one of the growing forces in European poker. The sponsors of the World Series of Poker Europe haven’t been resting on their laurels though, and instead they have attracted more high-stakes players than ever before. This week saw a $250/$500 spring to life with as much as $600,000 on the table.
The marathon session started just after midnight (GMT) and ended a full ten hours later with the two remaining players calling a truce just after 10am. A statement from the company reports as follows:
“A stalemate between the final two players – “operation” at $150,000 and “SuckMyD” at $450,000 – led to a final “gg” and “gn” (good game and good night) as the players decided to take some well earned rest. “Jandrew” and “sinceroo” left the game earlier this morning.
The biggest winner of the day was the Swedish IP address “SuckMyD” who is estimated to have made $330,000 profit on the session.”
The site has improved its software recently, and that coupled with the fast payment methods which Betfair are rightly proud of has struck the right note with the high stakes players on the site. Ben “Milkybarkid” Grundy certainly seems to enjoy it, being the biggest cash game winner in December. He won the $3,000 first prize in the monthly Betfair Leaderboards competition.
