Bellagio Biker Bandit sentenced for heist

Wednesday, 24 August 2011

Anthony Carleo, the man most poker players know as the Bellagio Biker Bandit, was yesterday sentenced to three to eleven years in prison for his theft of $1.5 million in chips from the high-stakes tables at the Bellagio.

Carleo is said to have rode up to the casino on a motorcycle, armed and in a helmet, before making off with rack after rack of $25,000 and $5,000 chips.

Thirty-year-old Carleo pled guilty to armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in June. This was part of a deal that saw eight other charges against him dropped, reducing his sentence to a three-year minimum.

Carleo is the son of a Las Vegas Municipal Court judge and was caught in February after attempting to sell $25,000 in chips to members of the Two Plus Two forums and, allegedly, to an undercover detective.
