Bay 101 Shooting Stars Day 1b complete

Thursday, 11 March 2010

Another 196 players have entered the World Poker Tour’s $10,000 buy-in event at Bay 101, including 25 players with a $5,000 bounty on their scalp. Fellow bounty Eli Elezra took David Williams' $5,000 for the first bounty of the day and they dropped like flies from there.

When all was said and done Erik Seidel, Annie Duke and Erick Lindgren all lost out, earning players $5,000 apiece. At the close of play just 126 players made it through both opening days and are reconvening for Day 2 as we write.

The list of players who were eliminated is long – Antonio Esfandiari, Joe Hachem, Jon Phan and Men Nguyen to name but a few – however many did survive with large stacks.

None larger than Eugene Katchalov, who finished ahead of Phil Hellmuth and JC Tran to take the $10,000 reward for holding the overnight chip lead. His 131,500 stack is bigger than Vanna Tea’s Day 1a chip lead also.

Join us tomorrow to find out how the 126 remaining players managed on Day 2.
