Basil Laiche heads WPT National Paris High Roller

Basil Laiche heads WPT National Paris High Roller

Tuesday, 15 February 2011

A total of 27 players ponied up the €10,000 buy-in for the High Roller event at the WPT National Championship event in Paris yesterday including the likes of Freddy Deeb and Juha Helppi.

By the close of the opening day just a dozen remained with Basil Yaiche leading the way. Joining him at the head of the chip counts are Saya Bouali, Frederic Loiselle and Yacooub Dori. The best known player still in contention for the €125,000 first prize is probably Nichlas Mattsson. Last year's WPT London Main Event runner up has a habit of winning high roller events and added to his collection at EPT Prague in December. The Swede returns as one of the short stacks but still has a fighting chance.

The action resumes at lunchtime today where the field will play down to a final table. The focus of the attention at the Aviation Club today will of course be the final table of the WPT National Diamond Championship where Sam Trickett is amongst the final eight.

Join us tomorrow to see whether the British star can add to his already impressive tournament CV and who has made the High Roller final.
