Barney Frank Anti-UIGEA Bill Delayed

Barney Frank Anti-UIGEA Bill Delayed
Thursday, 2 July 2009

As if the worldwide economic crisis wasn’t irritating enough, it has now further delayed the legalisation of online poker - as Barney Frank’s bill defying the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been postponed until at least September.

It seems reasonable – Mr Frank is Head of the US House Financial Services Committee and since everyone is declaring bankruptcy, the government thought it seemed prudent for him to focus away from online gambling.

The bill has bow been delayed for several months which is an incredible shame – the bill had gathered almost 40 co-sponsors in the past few months. The case seemed aided by the US government’s decision to seize $30m of online poker funds owed to players.

We will do our best to keep you updated and let you know when the hoards of US fish will return to our tables.
