Barcelona pay-day for Sylvain Loosli

Barcelona pay-day for Sylvain Loosli

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

The action from the Barcelona stop of the European Poker Tour (EPT) is continuing and it was Sylvain Loosli who won the €50,000 ($57,080) buy-in super high-roller event last night for a pay-day of over $1.4 million.

The event welcomed a record 99 entries including the likes of Steve O'Dwyer, JC Alvarado and Byron Kaverman but it was Loosli who was eventually left top the pile.

The Frenchman finished fourth in the main event of the 2013 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) and showed off all of his skills in Spain yesterday as he entered the final table with a healthy chip stack. He dodged some bullets along the way and bided his time as the likes of Kaverman, Paul Newey and Ivan Luca fell by the wayside.

He then went on the offensive and was riding a wave of momentum by the time he found himself heads-up against Dzmitry Urbanovich.

With enough chips at his disposal to sink the young Polish player, Loosli was able to rake in the final pot after just a few rounds and claim the top prize.

EPT Barcelona Super High Roller Event Result:

1. Sylvain Loosli - $1,419,840

2. Dzmitry Urbanovich - $976,140

3. Christoph Vogelsang - $639,723

7. Steve O’Dwyer - $256,360
