BLOG - I'm ninety seven years old, you know!

So it’s only taken six whole entire days, each consisting of eight to twelve hours of poker as thousands of players went up against one another with $10,000 to back up their beliefs that they are good enough, lucky enough, deserving enough to win the near $9m first prize and eternal glory that comes with a WSOP Main Event bracelet. As I write, they are sleeping off the grind on their only day off remaining until they hit the rail.

One of them is less likely to get back up... ooh, that was in bad taste, sorry. You’ll see why in a few sentences. Of the 2,700 or so players that are returning today for Day 3 of the 2010 WSOP Main Event, one of them is ninety f’ing seven. That’s 97. Years. Old. Almost a hundred.

Jack Ury is a lifelong poker player and has survived two full days of poker to get through to Day 3 of the Main Event. The oldest participating player in the history of the World Series of Poker, Ury has 8,200 in chips so will be struggling to cope at the 600/1,200 level that Day 3 begins at. Not to stereotype, but I reckon he’ll wait for QQ+ and go broke like Broomcorn’s Uncle.

Oh, and watch this video from last year's WSOP, it’s absolutely hilarious:

“You’re in trouble!” When you’re 97 years of age and still playing a highly competitive game with people one fifth your age, you can get away with slowrolling. Sick life.

It’s difficult to believe that the Main Event is almost over – well, you know what I mean, the first part of it is almost over. There are 747 places paid and based on the rate of eliminations so far, I’m gonna predict we hit the money bubble at the end of Tuesday (Day 5) or the start of Wednesday (Day 6). You saw it here first.
