Aussies win Poker Ashes

Aussies win Poker Ashes

Shane Warne may not be inflicting damage on England’s batsmen this summer but he still casts a big shadow over the poms at the poker table. Fresh from his WSOP appearance, Warne led Australia to a 4-1 victory over Darren Gough’s England in the 888.com Poker Ashes.

The Aussie line-up of Warne, Jeff Thomson, Damien Martyn and Dean Jones proved too strong for an England team that included Gladstone Small, Dimi Mascharenas, Rob Key and Matthew Hoggard.

With the series already decided after the fourth match, Warne and Gough had a side bet riding on the last contest. The losing captain would have to wear their opponent’s shirt at Lord’s for the Test match. The thought of wearing the three lions was obviously too much for the blonde leg-spinner who saw his side home to victory leaving Yorkshire’s finest to wear the Aussie green and gold.

Let’s hope it’s not an omen for the rest of the summer.
