With the PCA concluding its final events, January’s other major global festival, the Aussie Millions, kicks off a series of live satellites today before the main action starts on Thursday.

Taking place inside Melbourne’s Crown Casino, the annual event has become a haven for many of the game’s top players. Indeed, with high stakes cash game action running alongside the tournament offerings, recent years have seen the likes of Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius battling against some of their Macau acquaintances in televised cash games.

On the schedule this year are a number of interesting offerings, such as the Super High Rollers (AUD$100,000 and AUD$250,000 buy-ins), the AUD$10,000 Main Event and the AUD$5,000 Chinese tournament.

A number of pros have already been tweeting about the planned trips, including Tony G, Annette Obrestad and local hero, Joe Hachem.

On top of these players a number of pros are expected to fly directly from the PCA to Australia for the start of the Main Event on the 27th.
