Asian Pacific Poker Tour Cebu day 1a report

Asian Pacific Poker Tour Cebu day 1a report

Thursday, 12 November 2009

The APPT returned to the tournament poker scene after the hubbub of such trifles as the WSOPE, EPT London and that final table you might have heard about. With 105 players arriving for Day 1a (and Day 1b’s total already surpassing that) it seems like a great event.

The field of players wasn’t especially star-studded, with those few recognisable names who did play hitting the rail not long afterwards. Dan Schrieber and David Steicke were two such notables who left shortly after sitting down.

Terry Fan managed to double up early on, afterwards using his chip stack to bully his way to the end of Day 1a. Not only that, he secured the Day 1a chip lead by the close of the first day, sitting on 140,000 chips and way ahead of second-place Meenelai Bold on 110,000.

Day 1b is playing out right now, but due to pesky time zones it’s not over yet. Check back with us tomorrow for an update on the second day.
