Online players dominate the pros at the Full Tilt Heads-Up World Championship

A buy in of $25K usually ensures a high calibre field and so it proved at the Full Tilt Heads Up World Championship over the weekend. A 63 runner field including the likes of Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Gavin Smith, Erick Lindgren and Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan couldn’t match Ashton "theASHMAN103" Griffin though who took down the 1st prize of $551,250.

Griffin, who reached the final of last year’s LAPT San Jose, beat GrindMode, Isaac "luvtheWNBA" Haxton, David Singer, and Past on day one before seeing off Blair "yogiblair" Anderson in the semi to set up a meeting with David Benefield in the final.

Griffin dominated the final, quickly building up at 6 to 1 lead. All the chips eventually went in with Griffin holding trips to Benefield’s top pair with an open ended straight draw. The 20-year-old’s three of a kind held up to give him the win. Benefield picked up $315,000 as runner up. Rob “VAGA_LION” Akery was the top UK finisher, picking up $94,500 for his quarter final finish.
