UltimateBet's 2006 Aruba Poker Classic took place in Aruba from 23 September to 1 October. The million-dollar tournament included notable players like Annie Duke, Phil Hellmuth, and other successful tour participants all trying to win big.
The $774,960 first place prize went to up-and-coming star Devon Miller. Miller's strategy throughout the tournament was described as epic, showing confidence and skill deserving of the first prize.
'Devon Miller was unstoppable throughout the whole tournament,' said Phil Hellmuth. 'It was entertaining to watch his strategy and skills trump the rest of the field, though we're not going to let him get away with it next time.'
Rookie player Brian Gabrielle was awarded the title 'Pro for a Year' after his success during the Aruba-based tournament. The Canadian native played skillfully throughout and will be an UltimateBet pro for a full year until the 2007 Aruba tournament where he will defend his title.
