Arrests made after Birmingham casino robbery

Monday, 19 July 2010

A group of seven people, six men and a woman, are being question by police in connection with an armed raid at a casino in Birmingham last week.

The armed robbery took place at Maxims Casino in the Edgbaston area of the city but the amount of money stolen hasn't been disclosed. West Midlands Police confirmed that the arrested seven are aged between 23 and 52. They also revealed that they have recovered a handgun, ammunition and cash.

Though not directly related to poker, the raid once again raises questions about casino security, especially in light of the EPT raid in Berlin and copycat robberies in France.
