Armed Robbers Raid Walsall Casino

Monday, 6 October 2014

Police are hunting a pair of knife-wielding raiders who staged an armed robbery at the Grosvenor Casino in Walsall last week.

Deb Edmonds from West Midlands Police confirmed that, “An armed robbery occurred just after 7pm on Thursday. Two offenders went in to the casino armed with knives. They stole a quantity of cash. They made off in a vehicle.”

It's believed that around 100 people were in the casino, which is located close to J10 of the M6 motorway, at the time of the raid.

A witness told the Wolverhampton Express and Star newspaper, “Apparently these two blokes came in and screamed at everybody to move over to the bar. Then they went to the cash desk and took all the money. They were wearing balaclavas. It happened very quickly, all within the space of about three minutes.”

Thankfully nobody was hurt during the raid.

“We are now working with the police to assist them with their enquiries,” said Grosvenor spokesperson Amy Culora.

Anyone with information is urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police by dialing 101.
