Antonius Promises Durrrr Challenge to End ASAP

Antonius Promises Durrrr Challenge to End ASAP

Thursday, 10 September 2009

Finnish Team Full Tilt member Patrik Antonius has spoken candidly about the “durrrr Challenge” in which he is currently participating. Of the 50,000 hands of $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha to be played, Tom Dwan and Antonius have played less than half.

Antonius cited differing time zones for the challenge’s slow progress, saying in an interview with PokerNews that: “When I get up he is going to bed; when he gets up I am asleep. That’s the bad side of that.

“It should finish before the end of the year for sure. He’s in the USA, I’m in Europe, it is difficult to play at the same time,” he said.

However, with the World Series of Poker Europe in London approaching, and both of them set to attend, the challenge could make some quicker progress. We hope.

So far in the challenge the two have played 23,197 hands of heads-up Pot-Limit Omaha across four tables at $200/$400 stakes. Mostly, both players have been within two or three buy-ins of the other, with Antonius currently up around $35k. However, both players have seen a lead of over half a million dollars, proving both how closely matched they are and the high variance of Omaha.

You can follow the action at the specially-made “Durrrr Challenge” tables at Full Tilt Poker.
