The 3rd Annual Ante Up For Africa charity tournament takes place today with organisers hoping to raise upwards of $2m for the relief effort in Darfur. Annie Duke and Oscar nominated actor Don Cheadle will host the $5,000 buy in tournament with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and a host of other celebrities expected to play. The pros will be represented by amongst others Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch and Phil Hellmuth.

The tournament will raise much needed funds for projects aiding the humanitarian relief effort in Sudan.

“It is important to me to show people that it is possible to make a difference for the people of Darfur,” said co-founder Annie Duke “I am thrilled that this event has become such a success and that it will generate support for efforts by Refugees International, the Enough Project and others to end the crisis in Darfur.”

Ken Bacon, president of the charity Refugees International added “An event like this makes it possible for Refugees International to continue to demand action from the world’s leaders to provide basic assistance and protection to refugees in Sudan and around the world.”

The action starts at 10pm UK time.
