The Midlands was the centre of the UK poker scene this weekend. In addition to the Coral Masters event in Nottingham there was a bumper prize pool on offer in the Anniversary Cup at the Circus Casino in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Midlands was the centre of the UK poker scene this weekend. In addition to the Coral Masters event in Nottingham there was a bumper prize pool on offer in the Anniversary Cup at the Circus Casino in Stoke-On-Trent.


The likes of Dave Colclough, Paul Jackson, Jon Kalmar, Stuart Rutter and Mickey Wernick were amongst the 344-runner field but in the end it was Andy Wright who emerged victorious. Wright went into the final table as one of the medium stacks but a number of eliminations catapulted him up the leaderboard.


After Harish Boat went out in third place it was left to Wright and Spencer McKay to battle it out for the first-place money. The pair agreed to a chop with both of them taking £10,000 apiece then playing for the trophy and the remaining £2,000.


The end came soon after with all the chips going in on a 4-5-10 board. Wright revealed 4-5 for two pair with McKay showing 6-7 for an open ended straight draw. The turn and river were blanks giving Wright the extra £2,000 and the title.

3rd...Harish Baht £6,500
4th...Ted Eames £5,250
5th...Charlie Kyriakou £4,000
6th...Colin Fitzgibbon £3,000
7th...Theo Georgiou £2,000
8th...Paul Johns £1,500
9th...Maz Iqbal £1,100
10th..Thomas Thompson £750
