Andrew Wan freerolls his way to DTD Deepstack victory

Despite the competing attractions of WPT Dublin, the PCA and the Fox Poker Club Main Event a bumper field of 433 runners was on hand for the opening Dusk Till Dawn Deepstack of 2012.

The first event of the year was a re-entry affair which boosted the prize pool to a very chunky £216,500 and it was an unheralded amateur Andrew Wan who walked away with the lion's share of it. Wan's feat was even more impressive considering that he freerolled his way into the tournament after reaching the final table of four small buy-in events at Dusk Till Dawn.

Wan and heads up opponent Frank Flanagan agreed a chop that ensured both walked away with £45,000 with Wan sealing an extra £9,000 after hitting an unlikely straight with Q2.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Andrew Wan £54,000
2 Frank Flanagan £45,000
3 Waheed Ashraf £21,603
4 Pete Linton £15,160
5 Shola Akindele £11,370
6 Maurice Nicholson £8,527.50
7 Kyriacos Dionysiou £6,632.50
8 Nick Hicks £4,737.50

The next major action at Dusk Till Dawn is the Grand Prix which runs from 14th to 21st January and features seven day 1s and a guaranteed prize pool of €100,000. Qualify at DTDPoker.com.
