Andreas Zauner wins in Vienna

Monday, 10 October 2011

Andreas Zauner has been declared the winner of the latest leg of the Paradise Poker Tour in Vienna despite not walking away with the most money. He does have a shiny new trophy for his mantelpiece though.

With three-handed play moving at glacial speed Zauner agreed a chop with chip leader Milan Zaric and short stack Ferenc Bartha. The trio would walk away with a specified amount of cash but the winner's spot (and top billing on the Hendon Mob Database) would be decided by that old favourite, the one hand turnover. Zauner's J3o prevailed over Bartha's K8 and Zaric 54 to give the Austrian his first major title.

Earlier, the trio had worked their way through a 299 runner field.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Andreas Zauner €24,020*
2 Milan Zaric €27,960*
3 Ferenc Bartha €21,140*
4 Imre Karpati €11,360
5 Marcin Mucha €9,230
6 Alexander Hochreiter €7,810
7 Valentin Schachinger €6,390
8 Jorg Kleindiest €4,970
9 Zoltan Kapitany €3,550
10 Balasz Joblankai €1,990
