Anderson Looks to Scoop Deeb’s Record

Thursday, 23 May 2013

Shaun Deeb might be the most decorated SCOOP player of all-time, but Calvin "cal42688" Anderson looks set on challenging the American pro’s record.

Indeed, after beating Ireland's Nick Abou Risk heads-up in Event #25-M, Anderson managed to scoop $23,643 as well as his fourth online title.

The win is the pinnacle of his run in this year’s festival and combined with his other results he’s now amongst the top SCOOP performers. However, the most significant part of his win is that is now put him just one SCOOP title behind Deeb.

While there’s little doubt that Deeb is one of the best online tournament players ever and certainly the most successful COOP (SCOOP and WCOOP) player, it seems as though Anderson could pose a real threat to Deeb.

Anderson attacking Deeb’s record hasn’t been the only success story of the last few days. Indeed, the UK’s Stephen "Stevie444" Chidwick managed to win his first SCOOP title recently, after taking down Event #27-H.
The $2,100 2-7 Triple Limit Draw event attracted a tough field of 96 players for a total prizepool of $192,000.

After making it through the masses Chidwick found himself at a final table that included a selection of familiar screen name, including Rory "Mafews" Matthews and Calvin “cal42688” Anderson.

However, after keeping his cool and using his overall poker prowess to good effect, the British pro managed to beat Bryan “Brryann” Ruiter heads-up to clinch the title and $52,320.
