And the winners of the APAT Team Championship are … Team APAT

Manchester’s G Casino was the venue for the Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) Team Championship event over the weekend and there was a familiar name at the top of the leader board.

20 teams, each made up of eight players and representing poker communities from throughout the British Isles, battled it out for the honour of being the UK Team Champion. The top forty players in the £50 buy-in, 160-runner freezeout scored points and when all the totting up had been done it was the host APAT team that could bask in the glory.


In addition to the team title, there was also the small matter of the individual prize to be won. Billy Wallace, representing online forum Punters Lounge overcame strong challenges from the London Poker Meet’s Johnel Bracey and Newcastle Poker Forum’s David Stephenson to claim the title and with it a seat in a GUKPT Main Event and the Championship Gold Medal.

The Team Championship was the finale of what has been a very successful third season for APAT. Organisers are promising even bigger and better events in season four with an announcement expected imminently.
