Seen by many amateur players as the first step towards something great in the world of poker, the Amateur Poker Association Tour was heralded as an affordable way to win big. Emphasis in the first year was firmly on putting the poker player first, giving dealer-dealt tournaments and a deep structure for a £75 entry. After a very successful inaugural year, APAT has announced that Blue Square will be the sponsors of Season Two.
With a sponsorship deal of $200,000 and a schedule which now boasts over 70 live events, APAT will look to send even more players to the GUKPT and WSOP events in the coming months. The organisation hopes to send at least three players to the WSOP Main Event 2008, as well as three more to the GUKPT main final. Entry to APAT events now starts for as little as £20, meaning we could all be winning seats to win millions for a tiny investment.
Season Two kicks off this weekend all around the country and more details of the events can be found at www.apat.com. With the emphasis on low-cost, high class tournaments in live conditions, we should expect this year to be another successful one.
